Mavoi Satum is a largely volunteer-based organization that relies on the good will of women -- and men -- across Israel to help the cause and advance change. Volunteers are critical in the everyday work of Mavoi Satum, from working directly with agunot and mesuravot get, to advocacy in front of key change agents.
Here are some ways that you can get involved: √ Become a Melava ("ally"). Dozens of volunteers have worked as melavot, or “allies”, for women going through their divorces. Melavot receive specially-designed training in order to offer the best possible support and encouragement, and best help accompany agunot and mesuravot get through their court proceedings and other emotionally taxing situations. The best part of the melava program are the relationships that are formed during formative times, relationships that last for years to come -- even after the women achieve their freedom. √ Join a demonstration. Mavoi Satum holds periodic demonstrations on behalf of women, whether for annual events such as International Day Against Violence against Women, or on behalf of particular women who are in need of pressure.
√ Assist with programming. Mavoi Satum holds several annual events, such as an annual Film Festival, concerts, lectures, and more. These events rely heavily on the work of dedicated volunteers who work on all aspects of event planning. There are many creative ways to get involved. √ Host a Supper Quiz. The main annual fundraiser of Mavoi Satum is the Supper Quiz, held annually every February. Houses all over the world participate in a fun trivia game while learning about Mavoi Satum and offering support. Hosts are always welcome. For more information, or to volunteer, contact Mavoi Satum.
